A well-cut 1 carat round measures about 6.5 mm across, and most solitaire heads and stud baskets are drawn for that diameter. This page starts at exactly 1.00 ct on purpose. A 0.95 ct stone looks almost identical face-up, but customers search for, compare and remember the full carat, so stones that clear the threshold are the ones most retail orders specify.

Inside the 1.00–1.19 band, weight alone does not tell you spread. A stone cut deep carries extra weight below the girdle and can face up a few tenths of a millimetre smaller than a shallower stone of the same weight. Check the measurements on the report, and use the 1 mm preview grid to compare outlines before you shortlist.

For stud pairs, match on diameter first, then colour and clarity; small weight differences matter less than a visible size difference across a face. Put both stones in one request so we can quote them together. Every certified round carries an IGI or GIA report and a laser inscription, and we sell to the trade only, from our Los Angeles office.

How big is a 1 carat round diamond?

A well-cut 1 carat round is about 6.5 mm in diameter. Deeper cuts face up slightly smaller, so check the report measurements.

Why does this page start at 1.00 ct?

Stones at or just above a full carat are what most 1 carat orders call for. Widen the carat filter if you want to see 0.90–0.99 ct stones too.
