Oval lab-grown diamonds
Oval brilliant lab-grown diamonds for jewelers, retailers and manufacturers.
An oval is a stretched brilliant. It keeps a round-style facet pattern, so it has plenty of sparkle, but its elongated outline gives it a larger face-up area than a round of the same weight and makes fingers look longer. That combination is why ovals have become one of the most requested centre stones in bridal.
Two things decide whether an oval works. The first is length-to-width ratio. Most buyers look for something between about 1.35 and 1.50; lower reads chubby and close to round, higher reads long and narrow. The ratio is not a grade, so work it out from the measurements on the report and choose what suits the setting and the customer.
The second is the bow-tie, a dark band across the middle of the stone where light leaks out through the pavilion. Almost every oval has one. What matters is how strong it is, and that only shows in photos and video, not on a certificate. Compare stones of similar weight before you shortlist.
Every certified oval carries an IGI or GIA report and a laser inscription. We sell wholesale only, from our Los Angeles office. Send a request with the stones you like and we reply with pricing and availability.
What length-to-width ratio should I choose for an oval?
Most buyers choose between about 1.35 and 1.50. It is a matter of taste and setting, not a grade.
What is the bow-tie in an oval diamond?
A darker band across the centre caused by light leaking through the pavilion. Nearly every oval has one; judge its strength from images, not the report.
