A radiant has the same rectangular or square outline with trimmed corners as an emerald cut, but its facets are brilliant-style rather than step-cut. The result looks crisp and geometric from a distance and lively up close. For customers who like the shape of an emerald but want more sparkle, it is the obvious alternative.

That brilliant faceting also changes what you can buy. Like a round, a radiant hides small inclusions and faint colour far better than a step cut, so you can often hold it to a lower clarity than an emerald of the same size without the difference showing. Use the colour and clarity filters to test where that line falls for your customers.

Radiants are cut in a wide range of ratios. Close to 1.00 gives a square radiant, popular in halo and solitaire rings; around 1.20 to 1.35 gives the rectangular look. Deep radiants can face up small for their weight, so check the measurements and depth on the report.

Every certified radiant carries an IGI or GIA report and a laser inscription. We sell to the trade only, from our Los Angeles office. Send a request with the stones you like and we reply with pricing and availability.

What is the difference between a radiant and an emerald cut?

They share a cut-corner outline, but a radiant has brilliant facets while an emerald has step facets.

Can I buy a lower clarity in a radiant?

Often. Brilliant faceting hides small inclusions better than a step cut, so check images and decide case by case.
